Renewing Books during Half-Term Week
Just a reminder that if you are not going to be in College during reading week, you will need to make sure that you renew your week-loan books (and any other books due back that week) in order to avoid having to pay fines. You can telephone to renew or if you have Internet access at home you can renew via the Online Catalogue on the College website. If you want to renew using the online catalogue (or place reservations) you will need a pin number - ask at the Library counter if you don't already have one.

Starting a Business

If you are studying on the Salon Management course and are thinking about setting up your own business in the future, here are a couple of websites that will provide you with plenty of useful information.
The first one is StartIn Business. A few of the things that you can find information on are: business plans, a guide to setting up a business, and finding or choosing business premises. There is also a useful links option, where you might want to click on the HM Revenue & Customs link to see guidance on being self-employed and how National Insurance and tax might affect your business.
Another good site that's well designed and really easy to use to access information is Business Link. Try clicking on the 'your type of business' link where you can enter the location of a business to receive relevant information for that area. These include regulations, licences and trade bodies for your type of business.
