Have You Used an E-book Yet?

I have recently had a query about a customer service book that is on a reading list- Customer Service for Dummies. This is a title that we also have in stock as an e-book, so I thought I would remind you that we have electronic versions of some (although not all) of our reading list titles.
The e-books are useful if you have access to the Internet (either at home or in College) as you can read them, search for a particular topic or chapter and even print pages -up to 20% of the text. You can tell if we stock an e-book as when you do a catalogue search it will be listed on the copy information, and tell you which Athens database you can find it in. We also have an e-books catalogue which you can access via the Library Online Catalogue home page if you want to browse the e-books titles that we have available- although we will be adding new titles. Click on the links above to see the copy information for the customer service book or the e-book catalogue information. Don't be puzzled if you click on the e-book catalogue link and can't read the text- you just need to click on the % button above the information and enlarge the text.

If you do a search for Going Green using the search box at the top of the blog page and click on Search Blog, you can see the post . Don't forget that all blog posts are archived, so you can look at previous posts added.

Why do you need music in your business? (and a reminder that you need to pay for using it )
BBC Radio 1 is celebrating it's 40th anniversary this year. It was certainly a 'must have' radio station to have playing in hair salons in the 1960s, and a vast improvement on the previous BBC stations (for those of you too young to remember them, you'll have to take my word for it!)

This seems like an opportune moment to remind you that these days you need to have a Performing Rights Society Licence to play music in the salon. For all the information that you need about obtaining a licence, have a look at the MCPS-PRC website. You will find the information by clicking on the Why Do You Need to Pay to Use Music? link under the Hot Topics section. You can also read research about the beneficial effects of music in the workplace on the site.
