American Journal of Sports Medicine

There is currently a problem with accessing the full text articles of the American Journal of Sports Medicine. This is being investigated, so hopefully the full text will be available soon.   In the meantime, there are other journal title articles that should provide the information that you need.

BBC Coverage of the Winter Olympics

See the BBC Media Centre webpage for information about the BBC coverage of the Sochi Winter Olympic Games. The opening ceremony will be televised live on Friday 7th February starting at 3.30pm on BBC Two.

Digital Editions of Journals

You can read current digital editions of numerous publications by visiting the Leisure Opportunities website , clicking on the "Jump to other Leisure Media publications" tab at the top of the page and then selecting the title that you want to read. Titles include: Sports Management, Health Club Management, Leisure Management and Spa Business. You can also sign up to have the free ezines and digital magazines emailed to you, so that you can keep up to date with the latest industry news.

BASES Student Conference 2014

This year's British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES) 
Student Conference will be taking place at the University of Portsmouth Tuesday 8th - Wednesday 9th April 2014. The theme of this year's conference is 'Putting the Pieces Together', and is based around multidisciplinary, bringing the pieces of sport and exercise together. The conference is open to current undergraduate and postgraduate students of sport, exercise or related disciplines. See the event website for more details, including the conference programme.

Health Club Management Handbook 2014

The Health Club Management Handbook 2014 is now available online. You can read the Spa Foresight and the Fitness Foresight sections to find out about about industry trends and influences in Spa and Fitness. The handbook also includes features on rebranding exercise and pop-up facilities, plus the trade event dates for 2014, so it's well worth a look.

The latest issue of Make-up Artist Magazine is now available in the Library. This issue features a Get a Job! Special (page 36) which includes job-hunting tips, networking, starting your own company and artists' best/worst job stories. Television Programme on History of the Winter Olympics

With the Sochi 2014 Winter Games fast approaching, you might be interested in watching this television programme next week. Dan Snow's History of the Winter Olympics, takes a look back at 90 years of the Winter Olympics to examine the impact of the political upheaval during the 20th and 21st centuries. You can see this programme on Thursday 30th January 9pm-10pm on BBC Two

SPATEX 2014

SPATEX 2014, the UK’s dedicated and largest pool and spa trade event, will be taking place Sunday 2nd February-Tuesday 4th February at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry. See the event website for more info.

Online Resource Workshops

Just a reminder that there is an Online Resource Workshop during term time Monday-Thursday, between 1pm- 2pm in the Academic Skills Centre (ASC) in room 110 at Summer Row. The Toni and Guy 50/50 Collection 2013/2014 DVD (set of three discs) is also available at Richmond House Library.

The Salon Magazine

The January issue of The Salon Magazine is now available in the Library, and you can also access this online from The Salon website.
The Salon has information on both hairdressing and beauty. Inside the January issue you will find details of new products and treatments, plus business tips on maximising client loyalty and using the Internet for marketing.
