Academy Awards Winners for 2016

The 88th Academy Awards (Oscars)  ceremony, hosted by Chris Rock, have now taken place. Mad Max: Fury Road received both the Costume Design (Jenny Beavan) and the Makeup and Hairstyling (Lesley Vanderwalt, Elka Wardega and Damian Martin) award. The Visual Effects award went to Ex Machina (Andrew Whitehurst, Paul Norris, Mark Ardington, and Sara Bennet.

BASES Student Conference

The 2016 The British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES) student conference  From London to Rio and Beyond: The Race for Advancement in Sport and Exercise Sciences, will be taking place 22 March-23 March at Bangor University. The theme of the conference will be a celebration of how research in sport and exercise sciences has evolved and excelled since London 2012. Home pageThe British Film Academy Film Awards are now over for this year, but if you missed seeing it on TV you can visit the BAFTA website to see who won and discover more about this year's winners. Both the Costume Design and Make Up and Hair awards were given to Mad Max: Fury Road. The Special Visual Effects award went to Star Wars: the Force Awakens.

New Multi-Sports Arena for Barcelona FC

US sports architects HOK and Spanish practice TAC Arquitetces have won the tender to design a new multi-sports arena for Barcelona FC. The New Palau Blaugrana will include a basketball court, an ice rink and a new home for the club's football academy, FCB Escola, as well as other sporting facilities.

New Government Sporting Strategy

Sport England is inviting views on how they can achieve the goals outlined in the government's new Sporting Future strategy. Importance is being placed on the promotion of sport to people from all backgrounds, and there is a need to engage groups such as women, disabled people, older people and those from poorer backgrounds.
