Beauty UK Event 2017

The 2017, Beauty UK event (also featuring Hair UK, Barber UK and the Holistic Health Show) will be taking place at the NEC, Birmingham, Sunday 21st and Monday 22nd May. Please note that this is a trade only event and no under 16s will be admitted. You can register in advance for a free ticket here but entrance on the day is £20.00 per person/£10.00 if you are a student. You will be able to see the UK Nail Tech competition and also the National Make-up Awards. In addition, there will be talks and demonstrations for the aesthetic beauty industry, so you'll be able to see the latest technologies and how to incorporate these into a salon or clinic. Beauty UK looks well worth a visit - have a look at the event website to see what else is on offer.

Live Athletics: Birmingham Indoor Grand Prix

You can watch live coverage of the Birmingham Indoor Athletics Grand Prix from the Barclaycard Arena on Saturday 18th February at 1.15pm-4.05pm on BBC 1. (Sir) Mo Farah is expected to be among the star attractions at the event so it will definitely be worth watching.

Latest Issue of CLAD (Design) Magazine

The latest issue of CLAD magazine is now available online. In this issue on page 64 is a news feature on 'Could biophilic design transform the work out experience for gym goers' and on page 20 Inge Moore, interior designer and co-founder of design studio MUSE, suggests that spas and fitness spaces have been 'totally neglected' in the past but are now coming to be seen as essential parts of the hotel experience.

New Edition of Spa Bodywork Book

Loan copies of the 2nd edition of Spa Bodywork: A Guide for Massage Therapists, Williams, are now available. Treatments from salt and sugar glows to body polish to stone massage are covered in step-by-step detail, illustrated with photographs that show how to position the client and how to apply products such as seaweed, essential oils, and mud. New to this edition is a chapter showing how spa techniques can be easily used to enhance wellness massage, and new photographs.

New February 2017 Issue of Health Club Management

The new February issue of Health Club Management is now online. Included in this issue is 'There's an App for That' (p58) on the top 5 wellness apps, 'Sound in Body, Sound in Mind' (p52) on using exercise to combat mental health issues and on page 18 you can read about Justin McDonnell, Chair of the Collective Wellness Group, on looking for the next health and wellness brands.

Professional Beauty London Event

Professional Beauty London, the UK's largest beauty and spa trade show, will be taking place 26th - 27th February 2017 at ExCel London. You can register for free tickets here  but be aware that the event is only for trade and professional visitors over the age of 16. The hairdressing event, HJ Live London, will take place alongside Professional Beauty London.

CLADBOOK

The first edition of CLADbook (CLAD is a really useful design magazine that includes features on sports stadiums, fitness centres and spas) is available in digital format.  CLADbook 2017 has great photos, information, and designer profiles for new sport, fitness and spa buildings, including 'Green' sustainable developments. Well worth a read and it's in turning pages and PDF format.
