Two major UK sport events will be taking place this weekend - The Boat Race and The Grand National.
The Oxford & Cambridge Boat Races will be on Saturday 11th April 2015 at 4.50 pm and 5.50pm. Why two starting times? Sporting history will be made on Saturday, as for the first time the women's race will be on the same day as the men's race and follow the same course on the Tideway. So, make sure you are following the event on TV at 4.50pm for the Newton Women's Boat Race and 5.50pm for the BNY Mellon Boat Race to see Clare Balding present the live coverage and Sir Steve Redgrave, one of Great Britain’s greatest ever Olympians,
present the victorious crews with the trophies.
The Crabbie's Grand National Steeplechase will be taking place a little earlier on Saturday 11th April at 4.15pm, although the TV coverage starts at 1pm. The first female jockey that took part in the Grand National was Charlotte Brew way back in 1977, and Katie Walsh will be one of the runners this year.
