HEE Report on Five Non-Surgical Cosmetic Treatments

A  report by HEE (Health Education England) on the review of qualifications required for delivery of non-surgical cosmetic procedures has been published, outlining the key outcomes of phase 1 of the programme carried out between October 2013 and May 2014. This includes a draft education and training framework covering five cosmetic treatment modalities:

 Botulinum toxin injections
Dermal Fillers
Chemical peels and skin rejuvenation treatments (mesotherapy and microneedling)
Laser, Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) and Light Emitting Diode (LED) treatments
Hair restoration surgery

    2015 Health Club Management Handbook Online

    The 2015 Health Club Management Handbook  is now available online. You can read the Spa Foresight and the Fitness Foresight sections to find out about about industry trends and influences in Spa and Fitness.  This includes robot therapists, 3D printing, superfoods and wellness cities. The handbook also includes a Vital Statistics section offering a snapshot of the global fitness industry and the crisis in health and wellbeing  around the world, so it's well worth a look.

    TV Programmes of Interest Next week

    If you are looking for visual inspiration on period hairstyles, beauty or costume there are a few TV programmes coming up soon that will be of interest.  
    On Sunday 18th January at 8pm on BBC 1 a new series of Call the Midwife begins. Although previous series have been set in the 1950s, the new series is set in 1960 so you will be able to see very early 1960s fashions this time.
    Wednesday 21st January at 9pm on BBC1 sees the start of Wolf Hall which has been adapted from Hilary Mantel's Booker prize-winning novels Wolf Hall and Bring Up the Bodies that are set in Tudor times during the reign of Henry VIII.  Also on Wednesday 21st, you can watch A Knight's Tale, a film that is set in medieval14th-century Europe and is showing on E4 at 8pm.
