The winners of the 2018 World Spa & Wellness Awards  have now been announced. Details of the winners of The Professional Beauty Awards  for 2018 are also available.

Holistic Health Show 2018

The 2018 Holistic Health Show will be taking place Sunday 20th May & Monday 21st May 2018 at the NEC Birmingham. Show tickets worth £20 (£10 if you are a student) are available for trade visitors who register in advance, so why not book your place now ? You will also have access to the Hair UK, Barber UK and Beauty UK shows taking place at the same time and place, so it's well worth a visit.

New Online Resource for Sports Therapy

If you are studying on the UCB Sports Therapy course you'll be pleased to know that we have a new addition to our list of online resources for you to access and use. This is the Clinical Sports Medicine Collection, which includes the ebook of Brukner and Khan's Clinical Sports Medicine: Injuries: Volume 1 (always a popular title with our students) and other materials.

Historical Fashion TV Programme

The TV programme, A Stitch in Time, which explores the lives of historical figures through the clothes that they wore, and is presented by fashion historian Amber Buchart, is on BBC 4 tonight 8.30-9.00pm. So, if you're one of  our Specialist Hair and Media Make-Up students this should be worth watching.

Christmas Closure

 

 Both Richmond House Library  and Summer Row Library will be closing at 12 noon today for the Christmas break and will open again at 9am on Wednesday 3rd January 2018. Have a good holiday, see you next year!

Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation Student Conference

The 2nd Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation Student Conference will be held at Plymouth Marjon University on 18th May 2018. Keynote speakers, workshop themes and an after-dinner speaker will be announced shortly. Abstracts for presentations at the conference are now being taken (deadline 8th April 2018) and registration for conference tickets will open in January 2018.

New issue of CLAD mag Design Magazine Online

 Issue 4, 2017, of CLADmag magazine is now online. CLAD design magazine is suitable for spa and sports students. This issue has features on spa and sport stadium design and also information about the plans for the 2024 Olympic Games taking place in Paris. It also includes a feature on key trends in theatre design which might be of interest to our Specialist Hair and Media Make-Up students.

New 8th Edition of Clinically Oriented Anatomy

We now have plenty of loan copies of the new 8th edition of Clinically Oriented Anatomy, Moore,
 for anyone who would like a copy. This title is on several module reading lists so is well worth a read. Comprehensive updates reflect changes in the clinical application of anatomy as well as new imaging technologies, focusing on the anatomy that students need to know.

A Date for Your Diary - Professional Beauty London

 

The next Professional Beauty London event will be taking place at Excel London on 25th-26th February, 2018. Taking place alongside this event will be The World Spa and Wellness Convention and HJ Live for hair professionals. You can register for free tickets at the event website, but please remember this event is for trade and professional visitors only and you need to be over 14 to attend.

Balenciaga Fashion Exhibition at the V&A

On now until Sunday 18th February 2018, at the V&A, London, is the  Balenciaga: Shaping Fashion exhibition. Tickets are available to book online and cost £12.00. Read all about the exhibition, including the highlights on the V&A site. Even if you can't make it to London to see the exhibition it's worth visiting the site to see the related photographs and X-raying Balenciaga to see the interior structures of the clothes revealed by X-Rays.
